Driving in Sapporo

Plan to rent car from the New Chitose Airport from 27 Feb to 1 Mar.

The propose schedule is
Chitose Airport -- Sapporo -- Otaru -- Rosutsu Ski Resort -- Chitose Airport.

Any word of advise with regards to driving during the above period. Is there snow on the road? I have no driving experience during snow.

Don't drive unless it is necessary. For getting around Sapporo and Otaru, a car is not needed. For getting to Rusutsu a car is handy but not necessary. There are also buses that go there.

Is there snow on the road?

Yes, there is a high probability that you encounter snow on the road.

I have no driving experience during snow.

Then, it is better not to drive. If you decide to drive, nevertheless, observe the following three fundamental rules when driving on snow:

1) No sudden breaking
2) No sudden turns
3) No sudden acceleration
