Hiking Mt. Kamiyama 2018/2/21 00:31
Hi I'm planning a trip to Japan sometime June. Im reading up on hiking Mt. Kamiyama from Owakudani and found out that currently its closed due to weather conditions.

However I also found out about the closure due to volcanic gases and its stated that it is closed, stated here https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5203.html

But I read up as well that there are people able to climb the mountains as shown here, https://www.hakone.or.jp/en/3784

I really want to be able to climb to the mountains as that's my main goal there. Anyone here can help out if you can actually hike the mountains?

The hiking trails around Mt. Kamiyama and Owakudani are still closed. The photos that you saw on the other website are taken from other places. There are other hiking trails in Hakone:

Unless you have special attraction to Mt Kamiyama, there are hundreds if not thousands of other mountains in Japan waiting to be climbed. Do not climb one that is off limits!

Enjoy your hiking trip to Japan!
