Reconstruction on Taiyuinbyo completed? 2018/2/22 15:45
I plan to visit Nikko's famous Taiyuinbyo Mausoleum on April 13, 2018 and am concerned about whether it is closed or under heavy reconstruction. Hopefully all the work will done by then and everything will be viewable. Please advise. Thank you.

What makes you think that taiyuinbyo is under reconstruction? I checked Japan guide webpage and there is no mention of it. they are normally very accurate. There is an other place under reconstruction currently in Nikko : https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3803.html

Thank you LikeBike for checking . The reconstruction information I had gotten were from 2016 postings and since the reconstruction usually takes years, my worries. Apparently the reconstructions are over. Thanks again.

I think one of the main gates has been renovated and will be fully uncovered by May 2018. But I don't think that any other of the many structures at Taiyuinbyo are covered up.

Thanks Uji for the update on the reconstruction. Hopefully the gate you mentioned will be completed by April 13 and completely uncovered.
