Yaeyama snorkeling, kayaking

Helloes.
Been looking at the various Yaeyama islands and many offer snorkeling experiences and canoeing/kayaking (Iriomote, etc).
I have never snorkeled before so maybe I should skip that, but what about canoeing? I have done canoeing several years ago.
Is there anything one need to bring for kayaking/canoeing? Clothing? Life vests, etc? Or is it common the arrangers provide the equipment?
