Shimanami Kaido in May

I'm heading back for my last trip to Japan for a while and the Shimanami Kaido is something I've always wanted to do. Generally speaking, what does the weather tend to by like for May in that area?

For mid May:
Average daytime high: 22 degrees
Average nighttime low: 15 degrees
Average rainy days (1 mm or more rain): 31%
Average sunny days (sunny at least 40% of daytime): 60%

Prevailing wind is from the south so if you can get to Imabari & ride back to Onomichi you will have the wind behind you.
