Driving around Hakone during sakura season? 2018/3/3 13:33
Hi,

we will be at Hakone during the sakura season (11 & 12 April 2018) and we are thinking about renting a car to drive around the area.

how is the traffic condition around hakone and the 5 lakes during sakura season? will the traffic be dab and we end up wasting our time stuck in the traffic between tourist hot spots?

will there be problem looking for car parks during this period?

According to my experience, the streets of Hakone is not too crowded on weekdays, even during the cherry blossom season. Weekends, however, are better avoided. I have never experienced traffic jam problems in the Fuji Five Lake area.

I agree weekdays are not too bad for traffic and many of the places around the area do have parking (the museums and the like).

Blooming is not fixed in that day, full boolming life is not so long.
It will not be a problem on weekdays.

Google MAP knows the live traffic.
