Kawaguchiko Stn to Shinjuku by Bus

Hi! Thinking of taking a bus from Kawaguchiko Stn to return to Shinjuku in the evening, around 6pm or so. Is it a good idea to buy a prior reservation for a bus? Or just buy tickets on the spot? I am going with four other people. Thanks!

While opinions differ about the importance of making prior reservations for trains, I don't think anyone would argue against making prior reservations for highway buses when possible. For one thing, there are much fewer seats available (fewer services and fewer seats per service), and for another, there are no dedicated non-reserved seats or standing space, so if it's booked out, you're not boarding. And it gets booked out a lot more often than trains.
