4/30 too late for cherry blossom at Hirosaki? 2018/3/31 09:06
With the current forecast, it seems like peak will be third week of April. We won't be there until April 30, it is ok if we miss peak as long as there are still some blooming. Will be able catch late blooming? Kakunodate is forecasted to open after Hirosaki. Is it worth a visit or should we head straight to Hakodate? Our hotel reservation is at Aomori Station, is it fairly easy to get a train seat just before departure between Shin-Aomori to Shin-Hakodate and on May 1?

Thanks

Because it is four weeks ahead, we can not predict exactly.
Blooming front has already reached the southern Tohoku region(along the coast) today,
as 2nd fastness in observation history, but northern Tohoku area temp rises will not be so rapidly,
so if cold days continue, there is a small possibility that you may see in second half of peak.

If you are in Japan by the day before, you can get the blooming condition info easily, no worry.
SomeiYoshino is standard of blooming info and largest number tree,
Shidare-zakura(-sakura) is later bloom one, but less than 10% not so many.

If will not be so, it may be over the Hakodate like latest blooming forecast.
https://tenki.jp/sakura/expectation/
(blooming front means first blooming date, peak = 満開/mankai is 3-5 days later)
This is in Hakodate, most famous spot.
