4 days in Kyoto - Suggestion for sight seeing

Hi,
I am in Kyoto for 3.50 days & planning to visit Hiroshima & Miyajima island on 1 day
What things best to cover in remaining 2.50 days in Kyoto & around Kyoto like Nara, Kobe, Osaka ?
Less of Shrines would be preferred but something worthy to visit will definitely visit.
Good Shopping areas in Kyoto & Indian Vegetarian Restaurants if any in Kyoto ?

Read the Kyoto section of this website. What appeals to some wont appeal to others.
Personally if you are not into temples, which Kyoto is well known for. I'd delete a night at Kyoto and add one to Hiroshima, as Hiroshima and Miyajima in one day plus 4 hours travel is a rush.
