Sadly I will only be in Kyoto for one day in early October this year. What should I cram in to see please?
Also what is the weather like?
Should I download an app to translate language?

Regarding translation apps, I usually don't use translation apps in Japan as is English under station names and street signs, pictures in menus and often English as well and most Japanese can speak English, maybe some not so fluently, however, it is enough for them to assist you if needed.
