Odawara - Takayama fast train

Hi,
I use hyperdia only found 09:53 and 11:57 fast train.
any train between these 2.
I need be takayama at 17:30, it seems 11:57 train arrive 17:14 should be ok,
but need wait extra 1.5 hrs in Nagoya for takayama train .
I stay in Hotel green plaza, if take 09:53, I need take bus rush to station after breakfast.
other choice?

What do you mean by "fast train"? Anyway I can't find 9:53 or 11:57 train (do you mean from JR Odawara?). Could you post the url for the search result of Hyperdia? If you take Shinkansen and Limited Express, there will be many options.

As far as I searched, no, 14:48 Wide View Hida is your best bet. To catch this train you must take 12:08 Hikari which arrives Nagoya at 13:17 so you must wait about 90 min in Nagoya station. You may think there should be later Shinkansen to catch 14:48 train, but no, the next Shinkansen Kodama 653 (12:36) will arrive Nagoya at 14:44 and you will not be able to catch 14:48 Wide View Hida. If this Kodama was faster, you can catch Hida, but unfortunately, no it is slower Shinkansen (of course still much faster than the conventional trains).

JR Nagoya is a big station and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes where you can spend time.
