Bus &Train in Hokkaido during New Year

Hi,
I plan to spend a week in Hokkaido during new year. To be specific, I would like to take a night bus from Sapporo to Hakodate on December 29 and then back from Hakodate to Sapporo by train on December 31. My question is that , during that time, whether the bus and train will be operated as usual. I am worried that it may stop operating as itfs new year!
Please let me know if anyone has information on this regard.

Public transport normally does not stop around the new year, but may operate on a reduced schedule (e.g., Sunday schedule every day). For details, ask the operating company or consult its website sometime in December.
