Okinawa Honto compared to Ishigaki

Hi,
I went to Ishigaki this spring, loved the warm weather and the beaches, especially travelling across the Yaeyama islands by ferry.
I have not been to Okinawa main island though. What is it like compared to Ishigaki?
Can there still be coral reefs to be found around there? I feel Ishigaki is a bit harder to reach due to the less flights a day compared to Okinawa. I would love to return but I'd want to see Okinawa island as well.
