Buses around Biei 2018/7/9 18:57
Hi, I would like to go to these few places in Biei
- Blue Pond
- Shirahige Water Fall
- Mount Tokachi Observatory.

Are these places can be reach by taking bus?

Thank you.

Blue Pond is five minutes away from the bus stop, "Shirogane Aoiike Iriguchi (Entrance to Shirogane/Blue Pond)".

Shirahige falls is a few minutes away from the bus stop, "Shirogane Onsen (Shirogane Hot Spring)".

Tokachidake Bogakudai Observatory is one hour and 15 minutes away from the above bus stop, or less than an hour from Shirogane Onsen Hakuginso. The bus from JR Kamifurano goes to Shirogane Onsen. The frequency of this Tokachidake line is as low as that of the Shirogane line above.

BIEI VIEW BUS / Blue Pond Course departing 13:25 covers all the three. The operation period is from 18 Sep to 8 Oct.

Guide no Yamagoya provides a bicycle rental plan, D-type: Tokachidake Downhill. The starting point is Fukiage Onsen. Bogakudai, Shirahige, and Blue Pond are lower in this order. So, if you do these three as a hiking, it would be easier to start from Fukiage Onsen. The Tokachidake Downhill plan is only open to a Japanese speaker for security reasons.

Hi, are those interesting destination reachable during the winter?
We are planning to go there during early jan.
It's winter and we can only travel using public transportation.
So, it seems like our chances to explore the places are kind of limited.

Please let us know if you have any suggestion or information about this.
Thank you in advance

Snow and ice. You could not walk too long. So, forget Tokachidake Bogakudai Observatory. Anyway, no one goes there in winter.

I could recognize the second peak either in the monthly visitor chart for Blue Pond or Shirahige Falls. They are still reachable by bus.

The buses, Tokachidake line, Biei-Shirogane line, and Asahidake line do not have breaks. There are for onsens. Tokachidake and Fukiage Onsens, Shirogane Onsen, and Asahidake Onsen. Onsens are popular in winter.

On the other hand, both Biei View Bus and Tokachi Downhill cycling are until 8 October. If you want to view Biei hills, you should need to hire a car.

Shikisai no Oka in Biei becomes a snow park in winter. It would take half an hour on foot from JR Bibaushi.

Furano Ski Resort is easier by public transportation. You do not have to walk to get there. There are bus stops on Lavender-go for three ski resort hotels, New Furano Prince Hotel, Furano Prince Hotel, and Hotel Naturwald.
