Divorce and Visa 2018/7/10 18:59
Hi everyone,

I will probably divorce with my wife very soon.
We do have one baby who are 10 months.

She don't have attention to give me custody of the baby.

I'am now staying in Japan for one year and half.

If anyone ever had this kind of situation, could you please tell me if I will be able to stay in Japan after divorce?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

What is your status of residence?

1) If is some kind of work visa, then that applies, no change.
2) If it is a spouse visa, you will no longer be a spouse and need to get a valid status within six months - based on a simple search (see #1 above) or leave.

You can apply for teiju visa or change the visa to other category. Since you have a kid, you are eligible for teiju visa as long as there is no crime record. Many people with divorce get teiju visa. If you show that you are working and paying tax etc, you are eligible foe teiju visa.
Many married guys forgot to report immigraton after divorce and they stay till spouse visa expire and on extentsion they will say I did not know. Immigration gave teuji visa to them too. You are well eligible for teiju visa. Please dont worry.
