Buy A Hokkaido Expressway Pass Or Not 2018/7/14 10:07
Hi Folks, I'm trying to work out if I'd be better off buying a Hokkaido Expressway Pass or not. I will rent a car for 10 days starting in Sapporo and returning there going to these places in this order
Asahikawa to Furano
Sounkyo Onsen
Abashiri
Rausu
Akan National Park
Shikotsu-Toya NP inc Noboribetsu
It seems a pass for 10 days is 9300 yen and a normal toll fare from Chitose Airport Asahikawa for example is \4,730. So that distance alone is almost of the cost of half the pass. I tried to find a good map showing the roads which do charge toll, but I can't find a good detailed one. I am inclined to purchase the pass for peace of mind. I think the route which could cost me the most without having a pass is from Akan National Park to Noboribetsu.
Please help me to decide. Thank you

Perhaps you will drive on the toll road in the following sections:

Honbetsu to Abuta-Toyako 7310 yen
Abuta-Toyako to Noboribetsu-Higashi 1420 yen
Noboribetsu-Higashi to Sapporo-Kita 2100 yen.

So the pass will easily pay off. Have a nice drive in Hokkaido!
