Can I still use my Japanese passport? 2018/7/18 02:05
Hi! I am a dual citizen (fil and jap), I am 19 yrs old. I am currently studying here in the Philippines and I go to Japan every year. My Japanese passport will expire on January 10,2019 and I am planing to go to Japan on December 2018. Can I still use my Japanese Passport? Or is it required to renew my passport before 6 months of its expiration?

You are a Japanese citizen returning to your country of citizenship. The 6 month thing only applies if you are traveling to a country you're not a citizen of. So no, you wont have any problems entering Japan on your Japanese passport.

but you need to consider that you have to give up one nationality one you turn 20.
If you live outside Japan you can lose the Japanese, since Japan doesn't accept dual citizenship.
