Kodama/Hikari - no Green Car on Sanyo line?

I am reading everywhere that "There are no Green Cars on most gHIKARIh and gKODAMAh trains on the Sanyo Shinkansen line ". However, on Hyperdia, Kyoto to Shin-Osaka, leaving Kyoto at 08:52 Kodoma 695 has a drop down menu that includes Green Car. And again on the train from Himeji to Shin-Osaka, leaving Himeji at 16:02 Hikari 476 also has a drop down menu that include Green Car.

Does this mean that this particular Kodam and Hikari do in actual fact have a Green Car?

Most Kodama trains have no green cars. As for for Hikari trains, they all have green cars (except for the exotic, extremely rare Hikari Railstar). But note that there are almost no Hikari services west of Okayama. Several early-morning and late-evening Kodama trains and most of the rare Hikari trains do have green cars.

That website tells a lot of untruths. I'm assuming they do so to get people to buy green passes.

All Hikari services from Tokyo to Okayama and/or Hiroshima have green cars.

All reserved cars on Sakura services are 2+2 confriguration, same as green cars.

All non reserved and reserved cars on the Kyushu shinkansen are 2+2 also.

So if you are travelling this sections of rails and buying a green pass because of space issues this website whats you to believe exist. Then don't.

Tokaiko and Tohoku is a different matter. But they don't tell much on those lines.

The situation has been changing quite a bit over the years. Many websites fail to keep up-to-date or simply lack a full understanding of the situation to begin with.
