Half an itinerary: where to next? 2018/9/7 10:18
Hi all,

Both of us will be in Japan for our third time over winter 2019. Flying in and out of Narita as they were the only direct flights we could get. We are slow travellers, one with interests in temples and nature and the other a hobby videographer and looking for exciting/beautiful things to capture on film. I have half a trip planned but a bit stumped with where to go in the second 'half', any suggestions would be welcome.

Our current trip is looking like this:

27th Janurary-2nd February - Tokyo (trips to see snow monkeys and yokohama)
2nd - 5th February - Nikko (ryokan stay)
5th - 10th February - Sapporo (snow festival, will be flying to and from)
10th -15th February - Kyoto (ryokan stay)
15th-17th February (mt koya - shukobo stay)
17th - 23rd February ????????

We have previously been to: miyajima, hiroshima, kanazawa, takayama, osaka

As an aside, would plum blossoms be flowering at any point during our trip and where would we catch them?

Thank you for any and all help

You might start catching plum blossums to the south of Japan aka Kyushu, which is a location you have not visited.

But you may still be a week or two too early.

After Mt Koya, you could slowly wind your way back to Tokyo via Nachi Falls area (Kumano Nachi Taisha), Ise Shima area, and Hakone. They all have lots of natures and temples/shrines.
