Train into Tokyo - head to Asakusa and you can get the Kinugawa Tobu free pass - covers Kinugawa, Nikko, trains and buses. This covers trains between Kinugawa and Nikko, not just the bus service.

Many people look at the Nikko pass available for foreigners. Has some differences, like bus between Kinugawa and Nikko.

Thanks. I have noticed this pass facility but it seems that it is valid only on some trains from Asakusa to Kinugawa-onsen and that it needs many transfers, not easy with luggage... Or dis I missunderstand the explanation ?
thanks again

I agree its such a complex trip to Kinugawa onsen - been doing my research for forthcoming trip (HND-Kinugawaonsen)

I wonder if youfll consider this as it involves no changes etc and they can put yr luggage in storage under the bus.

From Nikko Stn, Kinugawaonsen is nearby - taxi or via train.

Another suggestion is to send yr luggage to yr next destination after Kinugawaonsen so all youfll have is a small overnight bag. You can do it at Narita & it doesnft cost a lot.

We are considering taking the direct Narita - Nikko bus, and purchasing a Chuzenji Onsen Free Pass (Yen 2,000) when we get to Nikko. Does this pass include transport to Kinugawa Onsen? And, does it go further up the road beyond Chuzenji Onsen stop?
If it doesn't, we may incur hefty additional transport cost and need to consider the Nikko All Area Pass which means traveling by train Narita - Tokyo- Nikko.
