Validity period for child's passport

I am from HKSAR.
I will bring my 4 year-old child to Japan for travelling from 23 to 31 July 2019 and my child's passport will expire in Feb 2020.
Does anyone know if Japan requires a passport to be valid for a certain period of time past the visit?
I am afraid it is quite a rush to apply renew of my child's passport!

No; Japan only requires passports to be valid during the time of the visit.
Also, just FYI, note that the requirement to carry passports at all times does not apply to children (under 16).

As long as the passport is valid for the duration if your stay, you should be fine.
