Permission to engage in second activity 2019/7/26 18:19
I am living and working as IT/ Programmer for 5 years in Sapporo, and the immigration granted me a 3 years visa as engineer/ specialist in humanities/ int'l services this year. because of my regular working days in my sponsored company is every weekdays only, and my weekends and holidays are open time for another meaningful task. due to these reasons I found a relevant pert-time job in International Airport, which is the employer are willing to hire me as a part-time employee on his business as the Interpreter position. I wanted to pursue this opportunity that might be help me to improve my Japanese skills while enjoying and learning to interact with different personalities and share my knowledge and ability in English. I am now processing and completing the necessary documents to be submitted to Sapporo Immigration to get the permission to engage in activity other than with my permitted status visa now. I am just worried of how much chances could the immigration grant my application?.

I am just thinking too, if in case that I also find a part-time job with the same work/ environment as programmer. is it necessary to apply the "Permission to engage in activity other than in permitted status"?

I am also worried with how much time should work the part-time employee?.

Getting the "permission to engage in other activities" should not be much problem as long as you have everything in order to back up your application. But who knows what the immigration have in store sometimes..

"find a part-time job with the same work/ environment" , you may not need the "permission" since it fall under same categories BUT it may clash/create problem with your main job since it is the same categories.

So check your working check your contract with your main/current employer for clause on part-time job. You will need to file your own tax separately (if your main job/company files yours).

As for "how much time should work the part-time", those normally on the "permission to engage in other activities" (students/dependent) are limited to working 28 hours per week. Check that with immigration.

Interpretation work is already covered by your current status, so you don't need additional permission.

Just you need to discuss with your work if a second job is allowed within your contract, and if you may work for another IT company (related to your visa status)

Most companies have a NDA or do not allow a second job.

One more question. you told me that if the part-time job is relevant to my career/ field of work, it is not necessary to inform japan immigration right? do I need to submit my MY NUMBER to part-time job employer? will not it be a problem if immigration finds out that there is another company paying for my salary in my bank account?

Re: Permission to engage in second activity 2019/7/29 11:21
Immigration does not care about the tax or payments.
If your payment goes to your account the city office will know because all is connected with my number and easy to trace.

Immigration only care that you follow the rules which are associated with your current visa status.

If you are talking to me, no, I didn't say that. What I said is you don't need to obtain "permission to engage in activity other than that permitted under the status of residence previously granted". You do, however, need to notify immigration that a new employment contract has been made.

Re: Permission to engage in second activity 2019/7/30 18:05
Thank you for the link, really appreciated. but I am quite confusing with regards on the application form linked. I am looking for a form which I can use to notify the Japan Immigration for my 2nd job (part-time). but all forms refers to the changes of Organization which are; if the Organization's Name, and Location are changed. and if the 1st organization terminated my employment contract and I need to enter into an employment contract with the new organization. I think this is not the form I should submit to Japan Immigration?

Re: Permission to engage in second activity 2019/8/3 18:16
The correct form is the one I gave above. "Previous organisation" is just your current employer. They (immigration) will know that you are still working there because you will not have filed a notification of termination of contract with them (current employer).

Is there any update? Have you submitted any form or application to the immigration bureau? Looking forward to your input :)
