Is it easy to make new friends in Tokyo? 2019/8/4 09:29
Has anybody moved to Tokyo from another city in Japan?

Is it easy to find new friends and establish community there?

I'm thinking to move to Tokyo from Ibaraki. I'm a little worried about making new friends and finding some footing.

Wouldn't it depend on if you find it easy to make connections and friends with people generally? Not sure why it would be location/city specific.

This is really subjective. For example, I made great friends in a secondary city in Taiwan but struggled to make friends in Yokohama. I've also found people on the countryside to be more friendly, but this crosses nationalities. If you want to make English speaking friends, then major cities are better but it also really depends on where you work and your personality. For example, I am quite introverted which does not work well in a country like Japan, which is my problem.
