You can always apply to change your status to whatever you want. Of course, you will need to satisfy the requirements for the status you want.

Yes, you can change your status provided you can provide/satisfy the requirement.
Unless you have a very good reason to change to working status, better keep the spouse to PR.
Since this spouse of PR status do not restrict type of work you can do. Also speed up your PR status if you want to apply. Almost same level as spouse of Japanese national.
Working visa/status is specific to type of job and required company sponsor.
