Tokyo to Kanazawa tickets for 2nd January

We are travelling from Tokyo to Kanazawa on the 2nd of January on the Shinkansen.
I believe we should prepurchase our tickets this coming Monday [2nd] being one month out. Is this correct?
If so, could someone please advise me where should I purchase them from?

You can do that on the JR East reservation website. Look it up, it's well-discussed here (and elsewhere).
