Obtaining a Drivers license (American) 2020/7/22 11:13
Hello,

I have hesitated for years to get a Japanese drivers license because for Americans it has been rather difficult in the past compared to the U.K., Australia, Canada etc,

Can anyone inform me of any new details to support this rumor that nowadays, We just need to translate our Valid drivers license and pay 3,ooo yen and then Go to the local driving center and pay the additional fees and take a mini drivers test and can possibly finished all within one day?

Please if anyone has any details or links about this new implemented and much easier way for an American in Japan to get a drivers license, please let me know!

Alohas,
T

no?? .. either you take the test or you do direct conversion.

US citizen from Hawaii , Maryland , Virginia , Washington can have it easy, do a direct conversion (without written/driving test), need to have all documentation in order. Other than that, you will require to take the tests.
Be sure that you can proof your 3 months residency in country where you get your 1st license issued.
