COE From Small Startup

I'm a master graduate in engineering. I got a job offer from a small Japanese startup and applied for a COE in mid-December 2020.

They had employed foreigners before, but never sponsored one for COE. The COE was applied by an immigration lawyer.

I wanted to know from your experience how long it could take?

Once it took 4 months for a family member of mine, but that was years ago. Standard processing time seems to be 3 months or so, but it varies a lot.

Three months is the advised standard. Some take longer, others less. Immigration are not doing much currently, so it might be shorter. Ages ago when I did my COE it was five weeks.
