LP Gas Grill Question

Hello,
I just moved into my first apartment in Japan that uses LP gas. Should I turn the gas knob that feeds to the grill on and off after each use or is it OK to leave on as long as the tube is installed properly? Sorry if this is a basic question but I have only ever used electric stoves before this so I just want to take all precautions
