We are considering going to Magome/Tsumago on our way from Takayama to Kyoto.
Does this seem feasible and how much time should we plan for this? How would we get there?
We'll be traveling by public transport and it will be in spring.

I looked at this recently for someone (slightly different variation) and it was a PITA getting to/from Takayama/Magome-Tsumago. Plus, if you have luggage, you have that to worry about as well. About the earliest arrival time you will have is 11:40 a.m., and that is after an 8 a.m. departure from Takayama.
Then allow time to do your walking between spots.
The onward travel to Kyoto is around another two hours.
Would make for a long day.
