Kanazawa to Tokyo Shinkansen on Jan. 2?

Hi, we'll be visiting Japan over winter break. We plan to travel from Kanazawa to Tokyo via Shinkansen on Jan. 2, 2023. We understand this is a very busy time for trains. We plan to book our 4 tickets online from the US on Dec. 2, 2022 on JR West website when the seats are available 10AM Japan Time. Do you think we'll have any difficulty and should plan for an alternative? Thanks!

It is going to a busy day, but if you reserve a month in advance you will have no problems making reservations. Note that trains in the afternoon will be busier than trains in the morning.
