6 d Nagoya -Takayama -Matsumoto -Achi Village

I am planning to travel to below places, please help to advise is it better to drive or buy the Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area JR pass?
I am hoping to be able to do hiking, cycling, stargazing in these areas, my plan is :
2 nights Takayama area
1 night Matsumoto
2 nights Achi Village
Which area and accommodation would you advise that i should be staying.

Nobeyama is also famous for stargazing.

It seems that you can go here by reservation bus from Nakatsugawa station.
Utsukushigahara Plateau seems to be good near Matsumoto.

I've only been to Utsukushigahara Plateau for art museums, but when I went there for a drive in the summer, I thought the scenery was wonderful.
I took the Venus Line from Lake Suwa via Tateshina and Kurumayama. It will probably be busy in the summer.
Kurumayama's day lily was beautiful. (July-August)
Utsukushigahara Plateau can also be reached from Matsumoto.
Yamamoto hut seems to pick you up from Matsumoto (1 bus per day)

From Matsumoto, if you stay in Kamikochi, you may be able to see the starry sky. I stayed in Kamikochi, but I didn't walk at night, so I don't know.
If you're near a hotel along the Azusa River, you might be able to see it.
The Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area JR Pass is reasonably priced, but if you don't want to go to the Kurobe Tateyama Alpine Route, I don't think you need to buy one.
I think it's better to go by bus or car.
You can go to Takayama from Matsumoto by bus.

I doubt that pass will pay off, since you aren't using the most important feature.

Train to Takayama. Bus to Matsumoto. Train to Achi. Train to Nagoya.
