Hakata Station to Fukuyoshi Station

According to Jorudan, "to get from Hakata to Fukuyoshi, take the subway Kuko Line to Meinohama (300Y). Stay on same train at Meinohama to ChikuzenMaebaru. At Chikuzen-Maebaru, transfer train - take JR Chikuho Line to Fukuyoshi".
I think the subway line becomes a JR Line at Meinohama. We will use SUICA from Hakata Station. We will have a JR Rail Pass also. Will we just be able to use the JR pass only for the ChikuzenMaebaru to Fukuyoshi segment? The Meinohama to ChikuzenMaebaru will be included with the previous segment and covered by SUICA (since we won't be getting off the train to swipe our pass)?
