7 days itinerary

Hi Good day,

Could I get any advise for my itinerary to Japan 21-28 Oct 23. Plan to see autumn
21 : Tokyo from Haneda
22 : Tokyo
23 : Hitachi Seaside park to see Kochia
24 : Takayama (over night)
25 : Shirakawago, overnight in Hakone
26 : Hakone
27 : Tokyo
28 : Tokyo
If this is too rush, which one is good for autumn, Hakone or Shirakawago? Do I need to take JR or bus from Tokyo-Takayama-Hakone?

Hi, I would try to deal with all of your Tokyo days at the beginning and push Takayama and Shirakawa toward the end. Takayama is likely to have more colour late in October, early November.

Personally I would miss Hakone this trip (it is nice though) and go tokyo etc, then Takayama. Takayama to Shirakawa, then Shirakawa to Kanazawa and bullet train to Karuizawa. Karuizawa is also likely to have colour, and is only an hour away from Tokyo by bullet train so if you have a later flight out you can stay there the night before you leave.

Tsuruya ryokan at Karuizawa is very nice.

Could you kindly advise for the transportation, is it better to use JR pass

I'm not sure as we never get one, but for a 7 day pass it might be worthwhile or close to it.
