Hi all,
I will be staying some months in 2024 in Tokyo for work purposes. The metro station nearest to my workplace is the Kamiyachō Station (Hibiya line). Now, appartments in the Minato area are rather pricey, so I am looking to find an appartment in another safe yet less upscale area of Tokyo near a Hibiya line metro station. Traveling 30+ minutes to work is of course not a problem.
Which area's would you suggest me to look for apartments?
Thank you for your help!

Prices are cheaper on the east side. The stylish image is the west side. You can check the average rent price for each station on the Hibiya Line here. https://www.athome.co.jp/chintai/souba/tokyo/tokyometrohibiya-line/It may take some time, but if you go to Kitasenju or Nakameguro, there is also the first train, so you can commute sitting. Rent in Nakameguro is relatively cheap, so I also recommend Nakameguro. Hiroo is home to a supermarket called National Azabu and Arisugawa Park (Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library) (as well as embassies), and is an area where there are many European and American foreigners.

if you work for a certain company in Japan, you should ask them at first. because your staying is short, your selection may be limited and you need their helps.

Assuming that your employer wouldn't finance your apartment, I can say that the further you walk from a train station, the cheaper.
You may want to look into areas in walking distance to Ningyocho Station, because it's an old town with a lot of culture. Nakameguro is a bit more modern, but you can walk toward Yutenji for a more older feel. Discuss with a real-estate agency for details.
And apartments would be cheaper in worse conditions, but for your health, try to live in a place where you get sun from the south side, even if it's during summer.

I don't know why but Yoyogi-Uehara is relatively popular among foreign residents. Although you need change subways at Kasumigaseki Station, it takes around 20 minutes to Kamiyacho.

You say youfll be ga few monthsh in Tokyo. Which sounds like youfll need a fully furnished apartment. As such your choices are limited. So I would start with a) asking your company. Maybe theyfll rent you an apartment. B) look what type of furnished apartment you can afford and where they are and then c) come back here with a few areas where you found an apartment and ask if that area is fine.
Btw, I work in Kamiyacho myself as well. Itfs not the best location in Tokyo but still itfs pretty central. I personally live in Shimokitazawa because I like the area here. But essentially there are a lot of places within 30 min from Kamiyacho. I have a colleague who literally lives in Kamiyacho. And I donft think that Kamiyacho is a specially expensive area to live if you exclude the new high rise buildings

ª At the company I worked for, company housing was managed by human resources, but depending on the company, it is managed by general affairs. Please check with either department and they will give you more details.

By the way, there are quite a few weekly and monthly apartments that do not allow foreigners to stay. In the case of this website, please apply for properties marked as "OlÂiForeigners allowedj". https://monthly.homes.jp/tokyo/
