Hi all, another rail pass question. Is there a pass that works for some or all of the following itinerary: Day 1 (evening): arrive at Narita, stay in the Tokyo Ueno district Day 2: Sightseeing in Tokyo Day 3: Travel to Fuji Yoshida Days 4 and 5: Sightseeing around Mt. Fuji Day 6: Travel to Narita
Thanks in advance! Eric

Nothing that covers everything you mention. The closest would be the JR East Nagano Niigata Area Pass, but it's only good for 5 consecutive days. It does cover the train up to Otsuki, but not all the way to Lake Kawaguchiko near Mt. Fuji. There are no trains near Mt Fuji aside from that. You could get a separate bus pass though. In the end, with the 50% increase in the pass coming next week, you can break even but won't be saving that much.

Get the Narita Express round trip ticket. That's pretty much the only one that will save you money.

The JR East Nagano Niigata Area Pass is 18,000 yen and going up to 27,000 yen. It is not close to paying off as all the trips around Tokyo are pretty trivial in terms of cost. Even the cheaper Tokyo Wide Pass wouldn't work at 10k (soon to be 15k).
