Driving in snow

We are visiting Daisetsuzan Hokkaido in November , and have been advised that we could encounter snow in the area in mid November. We never drive in such conditions. Could anyone with "experience" please advise what to avoid or how to safely drive when it is snowing?

Avoid driving if you don't have experience driving in winter conditions! It is very dangerous.

Unfortunately, everything is booked and some are already prepaid. We will arrive in Hokkaido next week, will have to monitor the weather closely.

Be worth checking the insurance with your hire car, too. And what you're covered for under your travel insurance.

I've never driven in snow so wouldn't attempt it, particularly in an unfamiliar landscape in a foreign country.

Yes, we shall make sure that we are fully covered.
We have driven in Hokkaido many times, thought November could be too early for snow in the areas we are visiting. We will be keeping our fingers crossed .
