How to keep ticket reserved using JR Pass?

I like to keep all my reserved train tickets as souvenir and wondering if it is still possible as of now (2023)

I know it was possible back in 2017 but I can't remember the detail on how I get to keep all my reserved train tickets with me.

This is common request, and JR-west answers as follows.

Ask the staff at the manned ticket gate. If it is allowed she/he will stamp your ticket and you can take it for souvenir.

Please save the following text on your smartphone and show it to the staff.

Honestly you don't need to speak accurate Japanese. If a foreigner comes to the Manned gate with the ticket in hand, the staff will think:

1. There may be some problem with the ticket.
2. This foreigner wants to go through the manned gate.
3. Maybe want to bring back the ticket?

So you should show your ticket and just say slowly "I want this ticket." You should not use more than 5 words. Normal Japanese can't understand long sentence. But most of us know "I" "want" "this" "ticket". You should be fine. Enjoy your trip in Japan!

My understaning is that there is no need to hand over seat reservation tickets if you hold a Japan Rail Pass. Where and how would you have to? Simply keep them.

Agree with Uji.
You will use just your JR Pass to go through ticket gates.
Your seat reservation tickets stay with your person.

Apparently back in 2017 I should show my JR Pass to manned ticket gate. But it's changed now that JR pass can go through automatic ticket gate by inserting the JR Pass.

But I guess uji is right, I just need to insert my JR Pass and not the reserved ticket!
