Golden week Alpine route

I plan to do the Alpine route in April or May 2024, but am not sure whether I should do the course before or after the Golden Week. Which period is more advisable?
Further, I wish to make a return day trip from Dentetsu Station to Kurobe Dam and back to Toyama. Is this possible? If so, when should I start at Dentetsu Station, and when will I be back in Toyama?
