Sapporo to Tendo and Tendo to Tokyo

Hello! Happy Holidays!

We bought a JR East-South Hokkaido Rail Pass as we will be traveling from Tokyo to Sapporo. Going back, we want to stop at Yamagata for 2 days for Ginzan Onsen and Zao Ski Resort. Unfortunately, our hotel is at Tendo.

Which trains and stations do we need to take that are covered by our JR Pass and where (website) can we see the schedules for these routes?:

- Tendo from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto
- Tokyo from Tendo

We're flying this New Year's Day. If you have other tips on taking the Shinkansen and local trains using this pass, would appreciate it (we have large pieces of luggage). Thank you in advance.

Google maps should work just fine for the route and the times. There are other apps as well, but why not start with something you already know. Hakodate Tendo is about a 5 h trip. Essentially you need to get to Sendai and from there to Tendo.
