Hi, we're planning to take the Limited Express Shinano Line from Nagano to Nagoya. However we were hoping to stop at Matsumoto, then head to Nakatsugawa to visit Magome-juku, then head to Nagoya.
I'm just wondering if I need to purchase separate tickets for each of the stopovers, and if so my fare will look like this: (all fares are the base fares + reserved seat fare)
Nagano to Matsumoto = JPY 3,100 Matsumoto to Nakatsugawa = JPY 4,570 Nakatsugawa to Nagoya = JPY 3,270
Total = JPY 10,940
Hoping to get some clarity, thank you in advance! :)

This is one of the cases, for which it is better to buy separate base fare tickets and limited express tickets for each section (because each section is relatively short) traveled, as pointed out by you.

How much time do you intend to stay at the stopovers?
Base fare time validity is based on travel distance.
