Haneda late flight, enough time to get train? 2024/2/16 13:47
Hi. I am flying into Haneda in May. This will be my first time in Japan, and I will be travelling solo.
The scheduled flight arrival time is 9:50pm on a Sat arriving at Terminal 3.
On my first night I am staying at Via Inn Prime in Akasaka.

The simplest way to get to the hotel appears to be to take the Keikyū Airport Line to Shimbashi Station, and then the Ginza Line subway to Tameike-sannō Station.

The last Keikyū train on Sat to make this trip according to Google Maps would leave Haneda T3 at 11:24pm.

I would like to get the Welcome Suica for ease of travel on bus/trains. I believe there is a Welcome Suica vending machine at the Monorail station at Terminal 3 where I can pick this up.

My question is, am I likely to have enough time to collect my baggage, clear immigration and customs, pick up the Suica and get to the platform comfortably in the 1hr 34 mins between my scheduled flight arrival and the last train? This is of course assuming the flight is on time.

If for some reason I don't make it, I believe the only option would be to take a taxi to the hotel, which would be OK as a backup but is obviously a higher-cost option.

That sounds tight.

On the condition that you don't give up that hotel,
you had better
change your booking to stay there from Day 2,
or take a plane scheduled to get to HND [Haneda] or NRT [Narita] earlier on Day 1.

With everything going smoothly, you might make it.
However, as you see,
your flight arrival may be delayed,
and your immigration procedure may happen to be prolonged.

You are a first-timer, so you may need more time,
even though you find signs telling you directions,
here and there in the airport terminal and the railway stations.

The simplest way to get to the hotel appears to be to take the Keikyū Airport Line to Shimbashi Station, and then the Ginza Line subway to Tameike-sannō Station.

Your first train continues beyond Sengakuji (A07)
onto the Toei subway Asakusa Line.

At Shimbashi Station, you make a transfer
from the Toei subway Asakusa Line
to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line,
where you go down the stairs, carrying your luggage.

Yes, that's the last train to run beyond Sengakuji Station.

If for some reason I don't make it, I believe the only option would be to take a taxi to the hotel, which would be OK as a backup but is obviously a higher-cost option.

Taxi fares are set higher during late and early hours
(from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Tokyo).

There is a route with transfers
at Mita and Shirokane-takanawa Stations,
where it seems you can go without stairs.
(The last departure is earlier, though.)

I was faced with this problem last November & changed my hotel to stay the first night at the Keikyu Ex Inn Haneda. If you cant change to an earlier flight I would suggest that you do something similar. In the worst case it's walkable.

In my case it was rendered moot by the airline messing up & I arrived on a different flight the next day at Narita.

When I flew into Haneda around 10pm last November, I got through immigration and customs in less than 20 minutes. When I arrive late at Haneda I stay in Kawasaki city, south of the airport. You can get to Kawasaki station from HND without any transfer, and there are lots of hotels near the station.
