Tokyo Dome English Language Tour 2024/3/13 08:35
I will be attending a Giants game at the Tokyo Dome April 12. I see there are stadium tours earlier in the day, but it is not clear if any are English language. This is my first time in Japan and I speak little to none Japanese.

In this case, you're probably not going to find a tour in English. Do you have any friends in Japan yet that speak English? Maybe they could help you to translate what they are saying. Just a thought, but otherwise you may be out of luck.

My Japanese skill isn't that great itself, but I've been able to enjoy even comedy shows in the past despite not understanding fully.

Hi BertG,

Since this was such a good question, I personally sent an inquiry to Tokyo Dome e-Ticket Store. They promptly answered by saying that they're currently making arrangements so that they could start an English version of the tour within this season. Once they start selling it, it would show on their official website.

I also asked them if it's possible for users to send inquiries in English language, because the form I used for my question to them seemed to only accept Japanese symbols. They replied saying that you indeed could use the same form in English. Below is the form. Type into the squares right below each red icon. From top, your name, your name again, your email address, select title of your inquiry (you can select その他 which means "other"), and finally your inquiry itself. Then put a check in the box and click the blue icon to send it.

If anything doesn't work, you could either try calling them by phone or asking us again. I trust that baseball is the number one thing today that's building peace between Japan and countries that play it. Your push on the back is appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll keep an eye on the website. Even if they don’t have the English language tour for when we are there we’ll still plan on going early and visiting the NPB Hall of Fame.

I'm sure you already know that you can use translator apps on your smart phone along with speakers to ease communication.

(Actually, I asked them if apps were worth while if they don't have an English tour, because if there are too many participants or if there is a lot of other noise, it would be difficult to use the speaker device for the app. Then they answered that they're organizing the English tour anyway.)

Have a nice trip!

I see that Tokyo Dome has really started English-guided tours. "Our guide, who is also active as a sports DJ, will guide you around Tokyo Dome’s facilities while explaining them in English"
