Shinano-Omachi to Matsumoto

I have planned a tateyama kurobe alpine route on 18th of April.. From last few weeks i am trying to book a train from Shinano-Omachi to Matsumoto using https://www.westjr.co.jp/ but everytime i try to book/ reserve the train it shows -"This route is not selectable."

Can you please advise if there is anyway to book this train ? or Am i trying to book from a wrong website ?

Shinano-Omachi to Matsumoto is local conventional rail. You can't reserve like you can't reserve a seat on a subway.

Most of the trains between Shinano-Omachi and Matsumoto are regular local trains, which cannot be booked in advance. There is just one limited express train per day that continues to Tokyo, for which seat reservations can be made.

I also checked out the link you provided, but it does not contain any booking forms. Don't you have a more accurate link? I tried the following link and had no problems to look up connections between Shinano-Omachi and Matsumoto:

Be careful about where you can pick up the tickets you reserve.

Thank you for confirming that I can�ft reserve a seat .. but where can I book the ticket ? I used the jrwest website but it keeps on telling me that I can�ft book tickets ..

What ticket? Single ride ticket from Shinano-Omachi to Matsumoto? Then at Shinano-Omachi station. If you have some kind of set ticket including this section you don't need to buy it since you already have the ticket.

Ticket window or machine is where you get a ticket.

The section is not for JR West but for JR East.

However, there are no reserved seats, so it won't change even if you buy it on the day.

Additionally, if you want to use Azusa 5 from Matumoto to Shinano-Omachi, you might want to make a reservation in advance.

I introduced the opposite route.
From Shinano-Omachi to Matumoto, it is Azusa 46 that leaves at 15:43.

Shinano-Omachi is an important station in the area so there is a manned ticket window. Oito line from Shinano-Omachi to Matsumoto is one of the scenic route in Japan: you can see nothern Alps from right window if the weather permits. It will be about 1 hour ride.

If the traveler comes from western Japan, buying the ticket through the JR West system can be more meaningful despite the section being JR East.

IC cards cannot be used between Shinano-Omachi and Matsumoto. You would have to purchase a paper ticket.
