Osaka/Kushimoto travel advice needed 2007/7/28 08:03
Will be there for 10 days, staying in Suita and Kushimoto. I plan on traveling to Osaka, Kyoto and Nara and possibly Tokyo.

What type of rail pass would make the most sense to buy? If I don't go to Tokyo, would a Japan Rail pass be more than I need? Would it be better to rent a car to drive to Kushimoto? Thanks.

A one way trip between Osaka and Kushimoto by express train costs around 6000 Yen.

Suita, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara are all in the same region, relatively inexpensive local train trips apart from each other. They are not very relevant in the question of whether a rail pass pays off or not.

Since you do not indicate how many times and within what time periods you travel between the various places, I cannot judge whether a rail pass pays off or not. But the above information should be sufficient for you to make the calculation by yourself.
