my first time going to Hanamaki onsen. And will have 1 free day . So, recommend Morioka? What is the local food and where should i eat something unique. I want to go to Hiraizumi Rest house for Mochi dishes. but am not sure if out of the way from Hamaki or Morioka

Both from Morioka or Hanamaki, take JR Tohoku Honsen to Hiramizumi station. (from Hanamaki, it takes about 40 min/820 yen and from Morioka about 1hr 20min/1450yen)
Then, take Iwateken Kotsu bus bound for Maezawa Jasco and get off at Chusonji-mae (5 min)
