Hi My daughter and I are travelling to Japan in 6 weeks. We are staying in Tokyo for 4 nights and then travelling one way to Kyoto by shinkansen. Is it worthwhile to buy a JR Rail pass or are we bettter to pay as we go? Also any tips on simplifying train travel. Are day passes available, and is this a cheaper option? Thankyou Julianne.
