Do Japanese people "mosh"?

I was at a rock concert last night, and was in the moch pit. If you've ever been in one, I'm sure you've noticed how rough it gets in there.
So I got to wondering, at rock/punk/metal concerts in Japan, do people "mosh" like they do in America? Pushing, shoving, crowd surfing and those circles that clear out for people to go crazy in, that is.
