Mid-term accomodation near Sendai?

Hi everyone - I'm moving up to the Sendai area in about a week for a job, and I'm not happy with the accommodation my company found for me. I'd like to arrange my own, preferably by renting from someone with an extra room as I'll only be there for 7 months, but I don't know anyone in the area yet and wouldn't want to take a room sight unseen even if I could find someone willing to do it. Thus, I'm looking for a guesthouse or something similar where I could stay for a month or so until I get my feet wet in the area.. anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
