can i expect snow in Tokyo this december? I would really love to see snow this Christmas.

It rarely snows in Tokyo, and if it does it quickly dissapears.

I have only seen snow on New Year's Eve in Tokyo, never earlier. We mostly get snow in Jan and Feb, but last winter didn't really get any at all. Your chances of a white Christmas are pretty much nil unless you head north and up into the mountains.

thanks. but if i decide to go up north, what's the nearest to go from tokyo by train so i can have my snow? how long will it take to get me there?

If you wan to see snow for sure, catch the Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Gala Yuzawa, which is a ski resort.

It takes 93 minutes.
