Is purple colour an unlucky color in japan? Not sure if its true. Y is it so?

I don't think purple is considered unlucky in Japan. It traditionally has been a "noble" color, accompanied by somewhat solemn atmosphere at times :)

I agree with AK. Dying into purple needed the root of a precious herb and has long been considered a noble color.
